Summary on Grant Application Form
The aim of the proposed research is to establish a methodology for 'Design and Manufacture' by identifying key drivers leading into new generic processes with the objective of reducing aircraft Direct Operating Cost (DOC). This innovative study is team-based and is conducted in a multidisciplinary environment involving the key drivers namely materials selection, aerodynamic consideration, structures, and all aspects of manufacturing philosophy leading to an understanding of the type of newer material and manufacturing methods, with a fall out of a more optimised 'aerodynamically' and/or 'process' driven tolerance allocation.
