Summary on Grant Application Form
The 2D electron detector bid plans to build a state of the art electron spectrometer capable of parallel readout in two dimensions. Existing readout detector technology will be used to rapidly deliver a working system which will enhance electron spectroscopy capabilities by an increase in data rate due to parallel detection of >25. This detector technology is currently limited in count rate by both the existing microchannel plates and the readout technology. A collaboration between CLRC and HEIs will bring together the latest developments in 2D readouts and very low resistance microchannel plates to determine the best method of providing readout technology that is matched to the intense SR sources. Keywords describing areas of proposal.Facilities, Instrumentation, Materials, Catalysis, Physics, Synchrotron Radiation, Surfaces, Superconductivity, Chemistry
