Summary on Grant Application Form
The main thrust of our work will be to find general methods to match image modalities of deformed 3D objecta which have an overall outline and also an inner structure. The second part of the project will investigate the correspondence between 3D objects and their deformed 2D projections. This will be used to obtain correspondence between the 3D MR/US and 2D x-ray mammography information, focusing on improving the precision of localisation during FNAC. This will mean an overall modelling of the deformation of the internal structure and tissue of the breast which will be based on statistical models. The various aspects of breast structure will be combined into a general model of the deformed breast and multi-scale correspondence will be established using appropriate data fusion techniques which will take missing structural information in some of the modalities and scale differences between the modalities into account.
