Summary on Grant Application Form
The aim of this project is to identify how to facilitate the effective integration of technology into product development through design. The project is concerned with those designers who work with both form and function in the fields of manufacturing industry which includes clothing, textiles and consumer products. The project will investigate the use of such designers throughout the entire supply chain to enable the integration of technology (in this case knowledge, materials, process and techniques) more effectively into the creation of new consumer centred products. Technological developments need to be captured to crate enhanced products for the customer. Design has a key role to play in harnessing technology to create product competitiveness and thus generate wealth.
