Summary on Grant Application Form
The aim is to develop a new template method for the construction of knotted molecules. The templating procedure is based on a combination of octahedral co-ordination chemistry and p-p interactions. Relatively simple building blocks are used so that a range of different strategies can be explored. This process will open the way to the synthesis of a range of topologically complex ligands which are expected to exhibit unusual chemical and physical properties.
