Summary on Grant Application Form
It is proposed to synthesise novel porphyrin compounds for use as second and third-generation photosensitisers for photodynamic therapy, using both one and two-photon excitation. Sensitisers will be characterised chemically, photochemically, photophysically (fluorescence life-times and quantum yields, triplet-state life-times and quantum yields, singlet-oxygen quantum yields, photodegradation quantum yields), tissue distribution, and in-vitro and in-vivo biological activity.
