Summary on Grant Application Form
This is a proposal to carry out an experimental study of low-voltage surface-normal optical modulators. The 3-year project will investigate a number of novel approaches to obtain low voltage operation, including the use of Schottky junctions to form a MSM-like structure and stacked diodes with implanted contacts. The device structures will be grown and fabricated in the University of Glasgow, and designed and tested at Heriot-Watt University.
