Summary on Grant Application Form
The project would involve the synthesis of new heterocyclic ligands, [(RP)nP]-, and their application in the preparation of main group and transition metal complexes. Both the alkali metal precursors and an extensive range of complexes of metals throughout the periodic table will be structurally characterised and their reactivities and properties studied. A principle focus of these studies will be the development of a new strategy for the deposition of GaAS and IaP from a low-temperature, solution phase reaction system. This approach will also be used to synthesise species containing ligand-stabilised cluster cores.
