Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim is to investigate a highly novel and potentially generic approach to the design of molecular promoters for heterogeneous catalysts operating at the solid/gas interface. The approach will use a combined experimental (catalytic reactor studies and in situ spectroscopy characterisation) together with predictive modelling to design promoters which are compounds that are molecularly adsorbed on the catalyst surface and enhance the rate of reaction significantly. Approaches are specified for hydrogenation and oxidation reactions using supported Pt,Pd and Ir catalsyts.
