Summary on Grant Application Form
The market for miniature displays is predicted to expand hugely in the next few years. A number of companies Lave products planned which are based upon silicon backplane miniature displays. The technology is so new that )rodkct dipvelopment is ahead of design support and characterisation capability. The purpose of this project is to ielp bridge the gap.The central theme of the project is to improve the link between design and characterisation/ testing of silicon backplane based miniature displays thereby reducing the design time for new products and improving the efficiency nd accuracy of the design process.Fast and efficient test and characterisation procedures will be developed which are compatible with in-line mplementation. An optoelectronic model of a pixel of a minature display will be developed. The model will be ompatible with the parameters measured by the in-line tests for product monitoring and compatible with TCAD and tesign packages such that it can be used at various stages during the design process to simulate the performance ,f new displays. Keywords describing areas of proposalMiniature Displays, Virtual Displays, Liquid Crystal Displays, TOAD, Design, Simulation, Characterisation
