1. We shall investigate the 3-D multi-wavelet transforms and apply the optimum wave let filters on the 3-D medical images.2. We shall implement the multi-resolution wavelet representation of three-dimensional images based on the optimum multi-wavelet filters and compare it with current methods.3. We shall implement and modify the Embedded Zerotree Wavelet (EZW-MOD) algorithm using multi wavelet to compress 3-D images generated from various modalities. 4. We shall examine 2 & 3 in the above based on bandwidth requirements and image quality constraints in Tele-radiology, Tele-surgery, or networked multimedia systems.5. We shall work on reducing the amount of time taken by EZW algorithm in compressing large volume images.6. We shall use the ability of the algorithm to compress the critical region of interest of 2-D and 3-D images to meet the required bit-rate over existing networks, while presenting acceptable image quality.7. We shall test the results on the network database of the Inter-University Center for medical Radiation Physics Education.8. We shall implement the proposed system on any networked medical multimedia, Tele-Radiology and Tele-Surgery systems in the U.K, or image databases of hospital s for instance King's College.
