Summary on Grant Application Form
This proposal seeks the resources to design, build and assess the performance of crystals of the semiconductor cadmium-zinc-telluride (CdZnTe) as a viable detector material for use in nuclear spectroscopy studies. In particular, the aim is to utilise the excellent room temperature operating properties of this material to develop a detector capable of simultaneously measuring both x-rays and charged particles following a nuclear reaction.
