Summary on Grant Application Form
A mean field theoretical model will be developed which will enable NMR data on flexible chiral solutes in chiral crystalline solvents to be used to derive the orientational order and the conformational distributions of the enantiomeric forms. The mean field model will be tested by producing data simulated by a molecular dynamics method of treating a solute in a model liquid crystalline solvent. New chiral, liquid crystalline solvents will be investigated to see if they are useful for chiral discrimination.
