Summary on Grant Application Form
Small high-Q resonators are of particular importance in the development of compact microwave filters for mobile communications. A novel resonator, the slotted cylindrical ring resonator, is introduced in this proposal. The objectives of this research are to charcterise this resonator in order to identify it potentials, to establish the methods and types of couplings between two of these resonators, to evaluate the coefficents of the couplings, and if time permits, to develop a narrow-band elliptic filter centered at 1.8 GHz using a set of these resonators.
