Summary on Grant Application Form
Packaging is increasingly seen as an important strategic tool for brand differentiation, as well as a key means of achieving improved logistics efficiencies, yet traditionally the industry has had low R&D investment. There are growing pressures on the packaging supply chain to provide innovative technological solutions to current strategic issues. This project will evaluate a multi-layer approach to the analysis and benchmarking of packaging industry supply chains. Benchmarking will facilitate self-assessment with respect to comparable chains, so aid strategic decision making. Static and dynamic analyses, at different levels of detail, will allow the operation of existing and proposed chains to be evaluated.
