Summary on Grant Application Form
Initially the network will consist of members from 10 university and hospital research groups and members from 10 companies, half of which will be SMEs. The network members will meet quarterly. Typically one or more industrial members will overview a particular requirement they would like to be openly discussed, outlining the world market and non-UK competitors. This then will be followed by members of one or more relevant academic research groups detailing their expertise in a related area. The discussion will then be open to all when other interested academic and industrial partners will be able to provide further information. Each meeting will be chaired by a different member of the network ensuring emphasis and balance is achieved over time. The venue will be rotated around the members of the network. All minutes of meeting will be sent out to all members for vetting prior to dissemination via newsletter and the web site. A database of information regarding expertise will be built up over time from these meetings to augment initial information provided by the members. Every year there will be wider dissemination meetings which will review the current state of the UK biomaterials industry and research.
