Summary on Grant Application Form
New catalytic methods for the enantioselective transfer hydrogenation of ketones and for the oxidation of hydrocarbons are proposed. The methods are based around the use of chiral dirhodium(II) tetracarboxylates as catalysts, and involve the reduction of ketones using the catalyst with 2-proponol as the hydrogen transfer reagent, and the allylic oxidation of alkenes with a mixed catalyst system again based on the dirhodium framework. Finally the oxidation of unactivated C-H bonds in alkanes will be investigated
