Summary on Grant Application Form |
The Physics Department at Heriot-Watt University have developed a miniature, high frequency pressure transducer. The probe utilises the fibre optic technology for which the group are renowned. In a previous EPSRC programme, Oxford assisted Heriot-Watt in defining the application of several optical transducers to turbomachinery and providing aerodynamic testing facilities. The present proposal is for Oxford to provide aerodynamic testing of the new pressure transducer when this is required by Heriot-Watt. To this end shock tubes, shock tunnels, gun tunnels and blow down tunnels are available as well as rotating facilities.
