Summary on Grant Application Form
The project is targeted at improving the productivity of vehicle and component suppliers. It seeks to enable vehicle manufacturers and their suppliers to avoid late design changes caused through lack of perception of often poorly articulated customer requirements. The project will bring the customer voice into the early design process with precision and confidence, and increase product attractiveness through focus on winning attributes, thus enhancing the perception of the product by the customer. In partnership with Nissan European Technology Centre and The Motor Industry Research Association, the project will use research methodologies established at Cranfield University, together with ideas put forward by Kano, Harvard Business Schools Empathic Design Techniques and others. It will extend existing tools such as QFD to resolve the difficulties in integrating customer delights into the early vehicle design process.
