Summary on Grant Application Form
A Turbulence Consortium is proposed that will enable interaction between research groups in the UK working on turbulent flow simulation. The theme of the Consortium will be the use of high performance computing to advance fundamental understanding and practical modelling of turbulent fluid flow. Simulations are proposed in detail for the interim period up until the HPC 97 procurement of new supercomputer facilities in the UK. As new high-performance computers are purchased the Consortium will co-ordinate applications for processor time and manage the detailed usage of time allocated. It is proposed that HPC Centre support be allocated to the Consortium for code optimisation and database management.
