Summary on Grant Application Form |
A technique has been develped to use matrix perturbation methods to solve linear contact problems at high speed. This has been shown to be practically useful for one dimensional general problems. The technique can be extended to cover less general problems faster (particularly when a uniform mesh is used to describe the deflected surface) and to describe two dimensional problems. This project is to complete the mathematical preliminaries required to extend the technique , implement the method in relevant computer code, and compare it to commercially used existing techniques.
