Panel History:
Summary on Grant Application Form
Viscoelastic elements are found in all walks of industry eg automobile (bumpers, shock absorbers, bushings etc); marine (seals, shock and vibration protection, mechanical filters and machinery isolation); civil (earthquake protection, bridge bearings); aerospace (for instrumentation and accessory protection) etc. This research is directed toward establishing methods for characterising the dynamic properties of homogeneous/braided reinforced materials under transient loads for a wide range of environmental conditions (-60c to 160c). The properties will be formulated such that they can be used for design/prediction in numerical procedures such as finite elements.
