Summary on Grant Application Form
The joint project (between Aberdeen and De Montfort Universities) is directed to establishing clearer principles for the building of high performance, low cost, reliable electrochemical supercapacitors. The strategy is focused on: - new (highly conducting) molten salt electrolytes for high-power outputs; - new electrode materials (including porous silicon) to optimise both energy storage and power output; anduse of cyclic voltammeter, impedance spectroscopy, and charge/discharge tests, for rigorous comparison between different types of supercapacitors and for the assessment of performance criteria.
