The separation phenomenon represents one of the most fundamental problems of classical and modern fluid dynamics. It has been the focus of attention of many distinguished scientists for more than a century, but despite a significant effort spent to understand the phenomenon and to describe it theoretically, very little is known about 3D separation. The proposal is firstly concerned with development of a new approach to construct very fast convergent numerical methods that will be used for calculating three-dimensional flow with separation at large values of the Reynolds number. A key element of the approach is Matrix Criss-Cross Thomas Technique. Being combined with an advanced solver to operate with the matrices involved, it will provide an efficient tool to investigate a wide range of 3D separated flows. Next a number of particular examples of fluid flows involving 3D boundary-layer separation, chosen on the grounds of physical importance and/or because they provide the necessary testing ground for elaborating the mathematical aspects of the proposed technique, will be investigated.
