Summary on Grant Application Form
This research programme will investigate the idea and issues associated with component-based methods and technologies to develop a flexible infrastructure for business process change. This infrastructure will allow companies to rapidly adjust their business processes to changes in the business environment, as well as incorporate legacy hardware and software. This will be conducted by means of a methodology that allows companies to achieve and manage this infrastructure, involving business process modelling and analysis applying object-oriented methods. Figure 1 below shows how this research fits in with the EPSRC Business Process Research Agenda. The project will add value to bridging the gap between the legacy systems embedded in a business process and ideas for a newly re-engineered implementation, by offering a structured method to achieve a flexible integrated system, complemented by business re-engineering. This will ensure that the system will grow both rapidly and effectively.
