Summary on Grant Application Form
Studies into the reaction of (RP)x and Se to give (RP)xSey including the so-called Woollins Reagent will be undertaken to establish (a) the identify of the known reagent; (b) the utility of (RP)xSey for C=O to C-Se transformations. Further more, cycloaddition reactions of (RP)2Se4 with organic dienes and other multiply bonds will be studied. Synthetic strategies for the isolation of new binary P-S species, and [PxSy]n- anions will also be investigated.
