Summary on Grant Application Form
The establishment of a Network Generation Manufacturing Enterprises is proposed. The Network will encourage the generation of novel ideas and concepts, together with their definition, exploration, and exploitation, that will add value and dimension to both the existing and new research and enable UK manufacturing enterprises to adapt and evolve in response to the business and manufacturing challenges of the Millennium Enterprise. The initial Network has been designed to represent a diverse range of academic and industrial interests and disciplines; to provide routes for dissemination and exploitation; and to influence the future direction of research in this area through common membership with Foresight, EPSRC, and non-UK spheres of interest in manufacturing systems evolution. Underpinned by the facilities and organisation of the PRIME Faraday Partnership led by the Universities of Nottingham and Loughborough and the Pera Group, the Network has immediate access to a multi-sector industrial base and mechanisms for dissemination and technology transfer.
