X-ray scattering measurements will be performed on fine powders of BaTiO3 and SrTiO3 to study the dependence of the ferroelectric distortions on temperature and particle size. The results will be compared with Raman scattering measurements. The measurements will be performed with both a powder diffractometer and a high resolution 2 axis instrument.After studying the powders we plan to study the structure of thin ferroelectric films using the same techniques.
