Summary on Grant Application Form
The technology to generate 3D interactive displays is now widely available. The ability to interact with such displays for either occupation or recreation is limited to users with normal movement control by the current peripheral devices and their mapping with the 3D environment. This project will tackle the issue of opening access to users with impaired movement control by enabling adaptive mapping based around knowledge of general features of human motor pathology. There will be two primary outcomes:The first will be an interface layer that will allow impaired users robust access 3D systems despite tremor, ataxia or dyskinesia. The second is the use of the interface to provide real-time feedback of a form useful within the rehabilitation of movement disorders.
