Summary on Grant Application Form |
Prof Volkov will use the quasi-classical Green's function technique to calculate transport properties of phase-coherent N-S nanostructures, with particular emphasis on metallic systems. These will reveal the effect of replacing the normal metal (N) by a ferromagnet and of varying the symmetry of the superconducting order parameter. By comparing these calculations with numerical multiple scattering results, a separation between classical proximity effects and mesoscopic phenomena will be unambiguously achieved.
