Summary on Grant Application Form
Investigation of various aspects of the double exchange mechanism in manganite materials exhibiting colossal magnetoresistance (CMR). Continuation of Monte Carlo simulation work, and development of high temperature expansions, for the magnetic susceptibility and comparison with variational treatments of the stability of the ferromagnetic ground state. Collaboration in work on band-narrowing in the paramagnetic state and on magnetoresistance, including grain boundary effects.Investigation of magnetic ground state order in 2D solid 3He films and the interpretation of recent experimental results. Stability of the ground state will be investigated by calculating the spin wave spectrum.
