Summary on Grant Application Form
The programme focuses on the development and numerical analysis of adaptive hp-finite element algorithms for singularly perturbed systems of elliptic partial differential equations. Specifically, this includes the development and analysis of robust a posteriori upper bounds on the error; the use of elements of high aspect ratio and non-uniform polynomial orders to achieve robust exponential rates of convergence; and post-processing techniques for extracting pointwise quantities with computable upper bounds on the accuracy.
