Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of the proposal is to investigate various aspects of the theory of local minimizers for multiple integrals, exploiting recent advances in the multi-dimensional calculus of variations, and in particular methods based on quasiconvexity. Various problems related to the characterisation of local minimizers, their existence and regularity, and quasiconvexifications will be studied. The research is mainly motivated by recent work on problems related to elasticity and materials science.
