|
This research project aims to develop a manufacturing planning tool with a focus on the implications for competency mapping. The tool will include a process which will be specifically applicable to airframes manufacturers within the Aerospace sector. The tool will be applicable across the whole Aerospace sector.To develop the tool we will need to investigate the macro issues, i.e. the potential structures of the sector - economic, geographical and technological. We will also need to look within the companies at the micro issues, i.e. the development of specific technical and managerial competencies. The manufacturing planing tool will help companies link both macro and micro perspectives. The emphasis on process and internationalisation is central to the Manufacturing Foresight recommendations, while improves understanding of international networks is highlighted as a key issue by the Aerospace panel.
