Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposal is conserned with the behaviour of coals from both the UK and the world market undergoing pyrolysis and combustion, the combustion of the chars produced can be influenced by the effect of metallic components such as ash.Whilsta considerable amount of work has been done in this area, little is known about many of the world coals, including Indian and Chinese coals, and these are areas in which British manufacturers are currently concerned. The object of the proposed work is to use an FITR machine with TGA pyrolysis to investigate the behaviour of these coals in a way that can give both academic information and information applicable to industry.DERA's interest in this project is related to the use of FITR fot the detection of the combustion product. Porviding the use of FITR as a measuring equpiment is proved sucessful during this project, DERA will consider using this equipment to analyse the gas emitted during aviation fuel combustion.
