Summary on Grant Application Form
The VF will carry out the construction of suitable optoelectronic control systems to synchronise the camera, Pockels cell and computer. Software will be written to carry out the windowed fourier transform process. The reliability of temporal phase unwrapping using various spatial and temporal window dimensions will be investigated. The VF will use constant velocity translation or rotation stages to test the relative performance of (a) the windowed FFT algorithm and (b) the phase shift algorithm. The complete system will then be tested on vibrating plates and dynamically loaded crack specimens. The VF will also carry out work on the SLM adaptive optics, characterising the properties of a SVGA resolution device. Experiments will be carried out to determine the device's fringe contrast, and to investigate its noise reduction capabilities.
