Summary on Grant Application Form
We aim to invite approximately 20 DPhil students from Sussex, Nottingham, Leeds, Edinburgh and the Open University and selected other UK and European Universities to attend a workshop in late September 1997. The workshop will provide students who are researching in AIED/HCT/Cognitive Engineering related issues with an opportunity to present and discuss their work with other students and members of the Sussex HCT group. The diverse and interdisciplinary nature of this area of research can restrict the opportunities available to students for peer review and feedback within their own institutions. There are even less opportunities for them to meet members of other institutions to discuss the issues which relate to their research or the process of completing DPhil. The workshop will provide a forum for discussion and the opportunity for students to gain experience in presenting their ideas. It will also enable all those who attend to discuss research being pursued in other institutions.
