Summary on Grant Application Form
Catalytic Combustion of fuel gases having high fuel bound nitrogen will be investigated under representative gas turbine conditions as a low Nox route for emissions compliance. Such fuels may be derived from coal or biomass and may have high levels of fuel bound nitrogen (to about 4000 ppm v). Current combustion strategies for the gas turbine cannot meet proposed legislation. Catalytic methods and their implementation in the gas turbine will be studied. The processes and catalyst formulations will be characterised and modelled with a view to providing generic design tools.
