Summary on Grant Application Form
Multipole magnetised.anisotropic bonded NdFeB Halbach (self-shielding) cylinders have considerable potential for application in brushless servo-motors, since they reduce the cogging torque, improve the induced emf waveform, and increase the specific torque capability, and could improve the dynamic response. The production and application of injection moulded Halbach cylinders (viz. Magnet powder orientation, mulitpole impulse magnetisation, and servo-motor design optimisation) will be researched, and the findings will be embodied in two technology demonstrators.
