The requirements phase, during software development poses many challenges, and those are of particular significance when the software can have a critical impact on the safety of the system concerned. A key problem is the need to resolve conflicting demands and to perform trade-offs early in the design lifecycle; this is especially important when selecting a safety strategy which must minimise the risk of compromising safety. This project aims to adapt the mathematical framework of game theory to improve the process of decision making for this problem.
