Summary on Grant Application Form
We will develop and evaluate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques which use field effects to generate new diagnositc information. This work will comprise development of methods for: (i) generating new contrast in MRI; (ii) accurately measuring the equilibrium magnetization (Mo) of tissue; (iii) monitoring the macromolecular pool of protons in tissue; (iv) indirectly imaging low magneogyric ratio nuclei and (v) making average structure measurements. Whilst the resulting techniques are ikely to have greatest application in the context of medical imaging, they may also be utilized in industrial applications of MRI.
