Summary on Grant Application Form
This proposal aims to elucidate the structural and electronic features of well-defined, discrete bimetallic nanoparticles generated inside mesoporous hosts by computational means, using state of the art molecular mechanics and quantum mechanical techniques. The influence of changes in particle morphology and composition of the particle's catalytic characteristics (over time) are to be evaluated experimentally using a continuos flow-reactor. The calculational models and the experimental data will be combined to form a synergetic description of the fundamental physical processes occurring inside as well as on the surface of such nanoclusters, with the aim to develop predictive computational models for such systems.
