Summary on Grant Application Form
A novel synthetic route will be developed to covalently bond a biocompatible monolayer with phosphorylcholine (PC) groups on the outermost surfaces of ceramic materials. Success will lead to the following applications: grafting of the inner pores of ceramic membranes to prohibit protein fouling in biomedical separation, coating of high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) filling particles to enhance their efficiency in drug and protein separation and fouling prevention of dialysis membranes.
