Summary on Grant Application Form
The overall aim is to produce new polypropylene-based functionalised and grafted copolymers and to explore their intrinsic properties and applications in polymer blends. Specific objectives include the use of reactive extrusion methods for the preparation of: (i) functionalised polyolefins from polypropylene and polyethylene/propylene copolymers, (ii) new graft copolymers from polypropylene-based polymers using tailored macromonomers, (iii) blends of polymers using the functionalised polyolefins and graft copolymers generated in (i) and (ii). A preliminary exploration of the influence of chemical, physical and processing conditions on product properties will be carries out and the prospect using them as injection moulding compounds and blending agent examined.
