Summary on Grant Application Form
The research needs to uncover the relationships that exist between client objectives, procurement systems and project organisational structures in construction projects. It will explore the decision making communication processes between and within the three phases of a construction project, namely the phase when the client sets its objectives, the procurement decision and the impact on the organisational structuring of the project. The work will deliver a set of criteria for the assessment of different building procurement systems and organisational structures and provide clients, designers and constructors with a methodology for evaluating procurement systems in terms of meeting the clients objectives. This will extend the current time, cost, quality paradigm of evaluating project outcomes. These issues may well be sustained as key factors but the research needs to add a more contemporary view of client objectives.
