Summary on Grant Application Form
Sum-frequency spectroscopy is a technique with great potential in studies of surfactant adsorption, crystal growth, catalysis and electrochemistry. We propose feasibility studies in an attempt to realise that potential in three areas:(1) detection of carboxylate modes in crystal growth inhibitors(2) detection of fluorocarbon modes in surfactants in super-critical fluids(3) detection of metal-adsorbate modes in the far IRThe experiments will be conducted on the free-electron laser FELIX at the FOM Institute, Nieuwegein, The Netherlands.
