Summary on Grant Application Form
Vehicle Telematics will provide one of the key differentiators for future vehicles, from the perspectives of Users, Service Providers, Component Suppliers, Vehicle Operators and Vehicle Manufacturers. To enhance the vehicle manufacturing and telematic industrial competitiveness and for the UK to be one of the major players in terms of design, manufacture and service provision, it is important that the industry is continuously aware of global technology trends and that new telematic products are introduced by industry with the shortest possible lead times. The TARM project provides a unique opportunity to support these goals by providing an overview of applications in terms of time-to-market, cost implementation and impact on manufacturing processes and procedures. The project will develop a method of determining the technologies required in terms of current status, future development and manufacturing capabilities of telematic systems. This proposal; constitutes one of the seven work packages that form the total TARM proposal, and concentrates on the manufacturing implications of telematics.
