Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposed research will deal with quantifying the decay of correlations which is a central problem in the study of chaotic systems. We propose to establish rigorously the exponential decay of correlations in a number of important chaotic models (Axiom A attractors, under appropriate assumptions, suspension modeal, the Geometric Lorentz Attractor, etc.). We shall approach these problems via a method based on a detailed study of the spectral properties of the Ruelle-Perron-Frobenius Operator from the Thermodynamic Formalism of symbolic dynamics.
