|
The project will investigate the extent to which computing facilities can be aligned to the business processes that they support and be maintained in alignment as the business evolves. The alignment will be captured in semantically linked business and computing models such that change in one model can be rippled across related models to ensure the integrity of the overall business/computing system description. The project will draw upon existing research by the applicants into i) the integration of business analysis and computing-oriented techniques, such as Structured Analysis and Object-Oriented Analysis ii) the use of formal process modelling for the evaluation of business models; and iii) structuring techniques for software configurations. Central to the project will be the use of Soft Systems Methodology for business analysis and its linkage to a computing-oriented techniques. An experimental tool will be developed to support the construction and maintenance of the models used in the method, and the method assessed through industrial trials.
