|
The proposed research addresses the issue of evolving legacy systems to Intranet-based architectures. Many organisations now see Intranets as a key technology providing access to corporate, legacy system data from all desktops. We will tackle three specific problems of reengineering systems to use Intranet technology:1. The requirements problem of deciding what to reengineer. We will study existing business processes to assess the impact of legacy systems in these processes and how these processes might be affected by Intranet migration. We will devise an approach, to be used by process managers, which will allow them to carry out these assessments.2. The design problems of visualising Intranet solutions and evolving character-based user interfaces. We will develop ways to visualise Intranet system structures through models and develop guidelines for the conversion of character-based interfaces to make use of .
